Rubber mulch in Wyoming, in short

Perfect Rubber Mulch delivers IPEMA-certified rubber mulch across Wyoming, tested to ASTM F1292. It ships by the pallet — 75 cubic feet, 50 bags. The truck sets it down curbside, and the price covers freight.

  • Built for Wyoming's climate: the state's dry, high-elevation, windy weather punishes wood and bark mulch. Wood scatters in the wind, fades in the high-altitude sun, and rots through freeze-thaw winters. Rubber weighs more, holds its color, and never needs yearly topping up.
  • Play-ready: the nuggets carry IPEMA certification to ASTM F1292, the impact-safety standard for playground surfacing. They work just as well in Wyoming landscape beds.
  • Buy right here: order up to nine pallets online. For six or more, ask us for a freight quote. Every color carries a 12-year color guarantee, and all sales are final.

Certified for play

A safer landing for Wyoming play areas.

We sell our rubber mulch as nuggets, IPEMA-certified to ASTM F1292. That standard measures how well a surface cushions a fall from play equipment. Spread to the right depth, it forms a resilient use zone under every swing, slide, and climbing frame.

Wyoming's licensing rule spells it out. The state's Child Care Licensing rules, Chapter 4, Section 4-16 require a resilient surface under any equipment with a fall height over 24 inches. They accept material "certified by the manufacturer to be shock-absorbing resilient material in accordance with the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) Standard."

Our ASTM F1292 certification meets that exact requirement. Confirm depth and use zones with your licensing consultant before you install.

How deep does the mulch need to be?

Home & backyardUpdated July 2026

Where it’s goingDepthNotes
Home & backyard playsets3″Right for most home swing sets and play structures. Home playgrounds aren’t government-regulated — this is the standard recommendation.
Taller home playsets4″A little extra cushion for a taller backyard structure.
Landscaping & garden beds2″Blocks weeds and holds soil moisture — a landscaping depth, not a safety depth.

Home guidance follows the CPSC’s voluntary Home Playground Safety Handbook (Pub. 324). Backyard playgrounds carry no federal depth requirement.

Certified thickness-to-fall-height ratios for the IPEMA-certified recycled-rubber nugget mulch we ship, tested to ASTM F1292-22 and F3012-22. Public playgrounds follow the U.S. CPSC Public Playground Safety Handbook (Pub. 325). Loose fill settles when rolled, so spread about an inch over the target depth. Figures reviewed July 2026.

Why these depths look lower than the “12 inches” you may have seen: the CPSC lists a generic 9–12″ minimum for loose fills like wood chips and sand because they compress and scatter. Rubber nuggets don’t compress the same way, so under ASTM F3012 they earn a certified fall-height rating at a shallower depth.
Wyoming weather, built for it

Made to last through a full Wyoming year.

Wyoming's weather is hard on landscaping. The NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information place the state "far from oceanic moisture sources." That means dry air, about 16 inches of rain a year, intense high-altitude sun, cold winters, and near-constant wind.

Wood and bark mulch pay the price here. High Plains wind scatters the light chips, the intense UV fades and dries them, and freeze-thaw cycles break them apart. So organic mulch needs topping up or replacing every year or two to hold its depth (source: NOAA NCEI State Climate Summary for Wyoming).

Rubber mulch sidesteps all of it. It weighs more, so wind barely moves it. It holds its color under the high-altitude sun, and it doesn’t rot like wood or need yearly replenishment.

That is why every color carries a 12-year color guarantee. One honest note on placement: in a hard downpour or strong gust, any loose mulch can move, rubber included. Edge your beds and playground borders well, and it stays put.

Recycled rubber sheds water instead of soaking it up, so it doesn’t rot down the way wood mulch does.

Wyoming native plants

A clean frame for Wyoming’s native garden.

Rubber mulch also frames a water-wise Wyoming landscape. Pair it with the tough natives the University of Wyoming Extension recommends for the state's dry, high country. Good matches include Rocky Mountain juniper (Juniperus scopulorum), ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa), bur oak (Quercus macrocarpa), and blue grama grass (Bouteloua gracilis).

Rubber does not decompose like wood, so it holds a crisp border around these plantings season after season. It skips the annual mulch refresh that wood beds demand.

Common questions

Good questions, clear answers.

What does rubber mulch cost delivered in Wyoming?

A single pallet delivered in Wyoming runs for unpainted rubber mulch up to $999 for the colors, with freight already included in the price. Each pallet holds 75 cubic feet — enough for a good-sized play area or landscape bed. You can buy up to 9 pallets online at your exact Wyoming delivered price; for 6 or more, ask us for a freight quote.

Does rubber mulch hold up in Wyoming's climate?

Yes, better than wood does. Wyoming runs semiarid, high-elevation, and windy, with intense sun and freeze-thaw winters (source: NOAA NCEI State Climate Summary for Wyoming). Rubber weighs more, so wind moves it less, holds its color under high-altitude UV, and never needs yearly topping up.

Is rubber mulch allowed under playground equipment in Wyoming daycares?

Yes, when the surface meets the standard. Wyoming's Child Care Licensing rules, Section 4-16 require a resilient surface under equipment with a fall height over 24 inches. They accept material certified as "shock-absorbing resilient material" to the ASTM standard, and our IPEMA-certified ASTM F1292 nuggets qualify.

Wood mulch is cheaper — why choose rubber?

Wood costs less up front but more over time here. High Plains wind scatters wood chips, the dry sun fades them, and freeze-thaw cycles break them down (source: NOAA NCEI State Climate Summary for Wyoming). So wood needs replacing every year or two, while rubber stays put, holds its color, and never decomposes — you buy it once.

Does rubber mulch work with Wyoming native plants?

It does. It frames the water-wise natives the University of Wyoming Extension recommends — Rocky Mountain juniper, ponderosa pine, bur oak, and blue grama grass. Because rubber does not break down, it holds a clean, low-maintenance border around these plantings without the annual refresh wood beds need.

Do you deliver everywhere in Wyoming?

We deliver across the 48 contiguous states, running I-80, I-25, and I-90 to Cheyenne, Casper, Laramie, Gillette, Rock Springs, Sheridan, Green River, Evanston, Riverton, and Jackson — every Wyoming address.
