Rubber mulch,
done right.
Certified fall protection for safe landings on playgrounds. A protective, lasting layer for landscaping beds. One trusted source — delivered free to the 48 contiguous states.
IPEMA Certified to ASTM F129212-Year Color Guarantee
What a pallet is
One pallet is 50 bags, 1.5 cubic feet each — 75 cubic feet in all, shrink-wrapped and delivered curbside.
One pallet ordered. One tree planted.
Every pallet you order keeps about 80–100 scrap tires out of the landfill — and plants one tree. One pallet, one tree.
- Tires diverted — by weight, each pallet is about 80–100 tires' worth of recycled rubber, kept out of the landfill.
- A tree planted — for every pallet you order, we plant a tree.
- Less waste over time — rubber mulch doesn't rot or wash away, so it isn't dug up and thrown out season after season the way wood mulch is.

Common questions
Is rubber mulch safe for kids?
Yes — it's IPEMA-certified and ASTM F1292 fall-height tested for playground safety. Unlike wood, it doesn't splinter, attract insects, or pack down into a hard surface over time, so it keeps cushioning falls season after season. It's been studied by independent agencies, including the EPA and the European Chemicals Agency — and their findings are public.
Is rubber mulch good for garden beds, or will it hurt my plants?
It's a protective layer, not just a look. In a bed it suppresses weeds, holds soil moisture, and won't rot or attract the insects wood mulch does. For ornamental beds it's an easy win; for edible or especially sensitive gardens, lay a barrier underneath first — just ask and we'll walk you through it.
How long does it last, and will the color fade?
The rubber doesn't rot like wood or break down, and the color is guaranteed for 12 years. It holds its color far longer than wood mulch, which fades to gray in a single season. We'll never tell you it "never" fades — but it outlasts wood many times over.
Does it grow mold or fungus like wood mulch?
No. Damp wood and bark mulch are a known host for fungi — including "artillery fungus," which a four-year Penn State study found thrives on decomposing wood mulch. Its spores can stain siding and cars several feet away. Because rubber doesn't decompose like wood or absorb water, it gives mold and fungi nothing to feed on.
Does rubber mulch get hot in the sun?
In direct summer sun, yes — like most dark outdoor surfaces, it warms up, and darker colors warm the most. In comparative testing at 101°F, though, it measured up to 20°F cooler than play sand. Shade or a lighter color keeps it comfortable, and in shade or the cooler months it's a non-issue.
How much do I need, and how is it priced?
Our mulch calculator sizes the job by measurements, square footage, or volume — then here you pick a color and ZIP for your delivered price. Mulch ships as pallets of 50 bags — 75 cubic feet — free to the 48 contiguous states, at the delivered price you saw up front. A tip from doing this since 2004: before you spread across several beds, open one bag in a single bed. See how far it goes at the depth you want, and you'll know how many bags each bed needs.
Can I get a quote for a large or commercial order?
Yes — bulk and truckload orders are routine for us. For schools, parks, HOAs, and big projects, request a quote and we'll shop the freight, optimize your order, and get back to you fast.
