Why cities choose it

Built for high-traffic public play.

Public playgrounds take more abuse than any backyard set. Rubber mulch keeps its tested cushioning for years and cuts the maintenance load on your parks crews.

Cushioning that lasts

It holds its tested cushioning season after season. It won't pack down like pea gravel or break down like wood fiber.

Less crew time

Top it off now and then instead of re-mulching every spring, so crews skip the yearly raking and re-budgeting.

Stays in the use zone

It weighs more than wood mulch, so it resists blowing and washing out — even in open, exposed park settings.

Handles rain and freeze

It rinses clean and drains fast, so kids play on it right after rain. Rubber stays loose through a freeze, and it never rots or splinters like wood.

Lower 10-year cost

It costs more up front than wood fiber, then far less to maintain — the lower-cost surface over ten years.

Recycled & American-made

Made in the USA from recycled tires, with a tree planted for every pallet ordered.

The part inspectors check

Tested to ASTM F1292 — the fall-height standard your risk file needs.

A public play surface has to cushion a fall from the height kids can reach. We supply against three standards. Here's what each one checks.

Certified fall height depends on the product and its installed depth. Tell us your equipment heights, and we'll match the right spec and send the certifications you need.

Questions cities ask

What parks directors ask before they bid.

How deep does it need to be?

Your equipment's fall height sets the depth. The higher kids can climb, the deeper the surface needs to be to stay within tested limits. Tell us your tallest structures, and we'll specify the depth and volume for each play area.

Is it safe?

Yes. It's IPEMA-certified and ASTM F1292 fall-height tested for playgrounds. At a certified depth, it holds G-max below 200 and HIC below 1,000 — the tested limits for a survivable fall.

That means 4 inches of mulch for a 10-foot fall and 6 inches for a 16-foot fall. Independent reviews by the EPA and the European Chemicals Agency back its safe use on playgrounds. See the studies and certifications on our Is rubber mulch safe? page.

Do you provide certifications and specs?

Yes. We send the certifications and product specs for your procurement and risk files. See what the certifications mean →

Is it ADA-accessible?

Yes, at the certified depth. Our nuggets are ASTM F1951-21 (ADA) certified at 4 inches compacted to 3.5, and at 7 inches compacted to 6. A wheelchair rolls across the use zone far more easily than it does over sand or pea gravel.

It's a loose fill, so an accessible route stays compliant when crews keep it raked level and topped up in high-traffic spots. We'll help you plan the depth and layout. See what the certifications mean →

Can you handle large or multi-park orders?

Yes. We supply single playgrounds up to district- and city-wide rollouts, with freight-optimized bulk pricing and scheduled deliveries to each site.

How is it delivered?

It ships as pallets of 50 bags (75 cubic feet), delivered free, curbside, to the 48 contiguous states, with freight built into one clear price.
