Coverage by depth
One pallet or super sack holds 75 cubic feet. How far it goes depends on how deep you spread it:
- 2 inches — landscape bedsabout 450 sq ft per pallet
- 3 inches — home play areasabout 300 sq ft per pallet
- 6 inches — commercial playgroundsabout 150 sq ft per pallet
Playground depth follows your tallest equipment's fall height. Our calculator turns your length, width, and depth into an exact pallet count. Loose mulch settles a little when spread, so plan for about 10% extra on the first fill.
Order 1 to 9 online, or request a quote for 10 or more
1 to 5 pallets: order online. 6 to 9: order online, or request a custom quote — sometimes we can beat the listed freight. 10 or more always ships by freight quote — we'll email your delivered price, and you can order from it or call us back.
Ten or more pallets always ships by freight quote. A full truckload is about 22 pallets and covers roughly 3,300 square feet at a 6-inch playground depth. There's no minimum and no maximum — one pallet and a full truckload are equally welcome.

How your mulch comes off the truck
A full pallet is too heavy to move by hand. Here's exactly how it arrives.
1 to 9 pallets: the delivery truck has a powered platform that lowers each pallet to your paved driveway or curb. The driver sets it down at the curb.
10 or more (truckload): a flatbed or dry van comes off with a forklift, or at a loading dock. We tell you which one your order needs, in writing, before it ships — no surprises at the curb.
The drop needs firm, level pavement, and a pallet jack rolls on pavement, not grass or gravel. Someone should be there for the carrier's scheduled appointment.

Why delivery is free — and what free includes
The price you see includes freight. There's no separate shipping line, and no residential or limited-access surcharge added at checkout.
Delivery is free and curbside to the 48 contiguous states — every state except Alaska and Hawaii. We route each order from the nearest of our U.S. plants to keep freight low, so distance doesn't set your price.
Free delivery covers truckload orders too; the freight is built into your quoted price. We don't ship to Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, or P.O. boxes.
Certified safe for playgrounds
Our playground-grade rubber is IPEMA-certified to ASTM F1292, the impact standard that sets fall-height protection, and ASTM F3012, the standard for loose-fill rubber.
At 6 inches deep, certified rubber protects against falls from playground equipment, and it keeps that protection because it doesn't pack down hard the way sand and pea gravel do. For a school, park, or municipal order, we can send the certifications and specs along with your quote.
Safe for kids. Safe for pets.
Rubber mulch has been studied for decades by independent agencies.
The EPA, the European Chemicals Agency, and California's OEHHA have all examined recycled rubber, and their findings support its safety for children at play. Certification is the proof, and every study is linked on our safety page with its original source.
Compared to wood mulch, you buy it once
By the pallet, rubber costs less per cubic foot than bagged mulch, and one pallet arrives with free delivery instead of dozens of bags to haul. Unlike wood, rubber doesn't rot or break down, so you're not re-buying and re-spreading it every spring.
Painted colors carry a 12-year color guarantee. Wood mulch is a yearly purchase; rubber is a one-time one.
- Rots like woodNo
- Yearly re-mulchingNo
- Color guarantee12 years
- Feeds termites or antsNo
Outlasts wood mulch, and feeds no pests
Rubber doesn't decompose like wood, so termites and carpenter ants have nothing to eat. It can't grow the artillery fungus that a Penn State study found on wet wood mulch — the fungus that spots siding and cars.
It's heavier than wood, so it stays put when a bed is edged, instead of floating or washing onto the driveway in a downpour. On a slope, a bordered edge holds it in place.
Where it's made and how it ships to you
We're a national online retailer, selling and shipping rubber mulch since 2004 — not a local yard.
Every order ships from the nearest of our U.S. plants in Utah, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Florida, or Wisconsin, so it reaches you fast. It's made in the USA from recycled American tires — one point that helps public buyers meet Buy-American requirements.

If a pallet arrives damaged, we handle it
Note it on the delivery receipt and photograph it while the driver is there, and report any hidden damage within 5 business days. We file the freight claim for you. If it's valid, we replace the material free or refund it — your choice — and you never arrange a return shipment.
What happens next
You'll get a confirmation right away. Freight orders arrive in about 5 to 10 business days; a few take longer, and we'll tell you honestly if yours will. The carrier calls to schedule a delivery appointment, and you'll get a tracking number to follow the shipment.
Your order plants trees. A 9-pallet order plants 9 trees; a full truckload plants about 22.
They're real trees, planted through a partner program.

Frequently asked questions
Does rubber mulch get hot or smell in the sun?
In full sun, yes — like most dark surfaces, it warms up, and darker colors warm the most. In shade or milder weather it's a non-issue. A faint new-rubber smell can be noticeable up close at first, and it fades outdoors.
Will the color match across a large or repeat order?
Order the whole job at once for the closest match. Separate production runs and later reorders can vary slightly, the same as any dyed product.
Should I put landscape fabric under it?
For a landscape bed, a weed barrier underneath helps. For a vegetable bed or sensitive planting, lay a simple barrier first — ask us and we'll walk you through the prep.
Is rubber mulch flammable?
It resists ignition and doesn't spread flame the way dry wood chips can. Like any outdoor surface, keep it away from open flame and grills.
What's the difference between bagged pallets and super sacks?
Both hold 75 cubic feet. A pallet is 50 bags, which are easy to carry and spread one at a time.
A super sack is one large bulk bag, handled with a forklift. Both arrive on the same free curbside delivery.
How many pallets can I order online, and is there a minimum?
You can order a half pallet, or up to 9 full pallets, online in any of the 48 contiguous states. For 10 or more, request a quote. A full truckload is about 22 pallets. There is no minimum.
Can government buyers and school districts pay by purchase order?
Yes. Government buyers, including public school districts, can pay by purchase order with net-30 terms, and place tax-exempt orders. Everyone can also pay by check, ACH, or credit card. Request a quote and we take it from there.
